ASSOCIATION POUR LA RECHERCHE SUR LES NICOTIANÉES

PRESENTATION

L'Association pour la Recherche des Nicotianées (A.R.N) is a non-profit-making association created in 1988 and whose object is to improve the knowledge of Nicotiana species. For this purpose, the association supports research relates to the tobacco plant (genetic, plant breeding, field practices, molecular farming, etc.), smoker behavior, smoke toxicology, smoke and environment.

ARN does not aim to directly develop industrial systems but open up lines of reflection, show directions of progress or simply to improve the analytical techniques. Each partnership is also the chance to help a young scientist to specialize in a new field and, we hope, to ease its entree into the working life.

Our objectives are:

to federate research teams working on subjects concerning tobacco problems
to develop and coordinate work in various laboratories (CNRS, INRA, INSERM, Universities, ...)
to finance PhD. theses, DEA, DESS on subjects relating to tobacco
to facilitate the exchanges between researchers by organizing annual scientific meetings
to disseminate knowledge acquired by publishing work in the bulletin of the association.

The ARN has traditionally received its funding from SEITA (the former state-owned French national tobacco company) which is now part of the Imperial Tobacco Group.

The association is located:
48, rue Danton
45404 FLEURY-LES-AUBRAIS CEDEX
